Manchester United have suffered a setback in their bid to progress in the Europa League after Edinson Cavani failed to travel with the team heading to the San Siro for their second leg round of 16 tie against AC Milan.
The Red Devils played out a 1-1 draw with the Italian giants at Old Trafford, meaning they have it all to do on Thursday night if they want to keep their hopes of winning the competition alive.
Coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer received a massive boost as Donny Van de Beek and Paul Pogba who have been out injured for a while all returned and made the list for the travelling party.
Goalkeeper David De Gea is also available having completed his isolation period from travelling back from Spain to witness the birth of his first child.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Cavani was also on the list having been injured for some time, but he will end up not travelling after he suffered a reaction in the final training session before the team boarded a flight at Manchester Airport.
Cavani will thus remain in Manchester alongside Ivory Coast defender Eric Baily, who is also being monitored by the club’s medical staff. France international Anthony Martial is also sidelined.
“We are happy to have Donny (van de Beek) back, Paul (Pogba) and David (De Gea),” Solskjaer said.
“Big players. Unfortunately, it looks like Edinson has got a bit of a reaction to training today and didn’t feel ready to travel.
“Eric is being assessed. I might be wrong there [in saying he was out]. He might have turned around and said he’s ready but he didn’t train this morning.”
Cavani joined United on a free transfer from Paris Saint-Germain and has scored seven goals and provided two assists in 25 competitive appearances.
