Prominent figures in the Nigeria’s banking and finance industry, as well as the top African billionaire, Aliko Dangote, were on weekend displayed their wealth at a private jet birthday ceremony in Jamaica to celebrate the 60 birthday of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele.
It was learnt that the bank executives, flew in private jets to the South American country, were in the party to impress the Governor of the Nigeria apex bank, Emefiele.

“Some big boys and Emefiele were at Montego Bay City, Jamaica, last weekend to celebrate his 60th birthday. They flew there quietly with their private jets. The party was organised and held in secret to keep it away from prying eyes,” a source stated.
“Those in attendance included the usual suspects; Dangote, Nduka Obaigbena, Herbert Wigwe, Tony Elumelu and Adesola Adeduntan and so on,” the source added
Last week, President Muhammadu Buhari sent a congratulatory letter to Emefiele ro celebrate his birthday on August 4.
Emefiele assumed the governorship position of the apex bank in Nigeria on June 3, 2014.
In March 2016, Emefiele was first appointed by tex-President Goodluck Jonathan and was reappointed to the position in May 2019 by Buhari, this came before the expiration of his first term.
Under Emefiele, Nigeria has experienced rising inflation, jumping to 17.33 percent at the end of February 2021 from 16.47 percent in January 2021, according to the governor himself.
The governor had also been accused of engaging in underhand dealings and fraudulent practices which continued to frustrate the activities of the bank and the country’s banking sector.
