Yul Edochie
This Nollywood talent has been an actor and recently, a politician. In the last general elections, he contested as governor of his state but didn’t succeed. Last year, in an interview with a national daily, he hinted at his intentions to run for the post of president.
He is yet to fully declare his intentions this year though but he should do that soon, as the movie star who got only 145 votes during the Anambra governorship elections in 2017, made his intentions known on his birthday last year January.
Femi Adebayo
Another Nollywood actor who has a passion to serve. Last year, rumours had it that he had the intention to run for a post in 2023, but recently, the actor who hails from Kwara made his interest known in representing Asa/Ilorin West at the Nigerian National Assembly delegation from his state.
Taking to his Instagram page, Adebayo’s elder brother shared a poster bearing the actor’s face and his manifesto. The poster states that the film star is contending for the position for a better representative at the green chamber.
Falz The Bahd Guy
This lawyer turned musician has made a name for himself in the music world! However, his involvement in the #Endsars protest in 2020, has made many people suggest to him to run as president of Nigeria.
Will he be cajoled to run or not? Time will tell.
Banky W
Bankole Wellington, aka Mr Capable, contested to be a member of the Lagos State House Of Assembly in the last election but didn’t go far.
The rumours are that he intends to contest again in 2023. What he wants to run for, is not known yet though.
Mr. Macaroni
Popular comedian, Debo Adebayo, also known as Mr Macaroni, has shown laudable acts of patriotism despite the oppression he had encountered countlessly. On February 2021, Mr Macaroni was arrested for protesting at the Lekki toll gate where he demanded that justice be served to the victims of the October 20, 2020, #EndSARS protest at the toll plaza.
Despite the dehumanization he faced, the comedian joined protesters at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in the Ojota area, the venue of the June 12 protest in Lagos State. He has also grown to be a strong voice and had created resistance against the present government in its inhumane treatment of the Nigerian people.
Dj Switch
This list won’t be complete without including this charismatic disc jockey. DJ Switch may likely win the elections if she chooses to run.
The 36-year-old defied all odds, after she participated in the EndSARS protest, releasing live footage from the massacre that happened at the Lekki Tollgate on the 20th of October, 2020.
The female Dj Switch, even in exile, has continued to challenge the government whilst speaking out for the persons whose lives were lost during the Lekki Massacre.
