Celebrities Join Lagos Food Bank Walkathon To Combat Hunger
Eko Hot Blog reports that a group of celebrities, including Kaffy, Shaffy Bello, Jodie, Asiri, Kemen, Saskay, Saga, and Pharmsavi, recently joined the Lagos Food Bank Initiative’s walkathon to raise awareness about hunger and food insecurity in indigent communities.

The walkathon, which took place at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island, was a positively charged atmosphere as enthusiastic volunteers rallied to support the cause.
Speaking at the event, the Executive Director of LFBI, Michael Sunbola, stated that the walkathon was meant to address the issue of hunger and malnutrition in society.

He said, “What we are doing here is to raise awareness about the work we have been doing in the last eight years, and most importantly, to keep children in school. One of the major problems we are facing today is the number of out-of-school children. Nigeria ranks among the top three countries with the highest number of out-of-school children. Food insecurity and hunger are significant drivers of school dropouts. As the costs of living and feeding continue to rise, we have taken action by establishing a food bank to bridge the gap, and to enable children to stay in school. Leveraging the influence of celebrities is crucial for us, as they have platforms needed to reach wider audiences.”
