Black Galaxies head coach, Didi Dramani, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to overcome their perennial rivals, Nigeria, and secure a ticket to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Despite being held to a goalless draw in the first leg of their qualifier in Accra last weekend, Dramani remains optimistic about his side’s chances in the decisive reverse fixture.

The crucial match is scheduled to take place today at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo. Both teams are vying for a spot in the prestigious tournament, which showcases local talents across the continent.
Reflecting on the first leg, Dramani acknowledged that the Black Galaxies dominated proceedings but were unable to convert their opportunities into goals. “We created far more chances and were unlucky not to score,” he remarked during a press conference in Uyo. “There’s no point crying over spilt milk. We must look forward and approach the next game with determination and focus.”
The Black Galaxies displayed a strong performance in front of their home crowd, controlling possession and creating several scoring opportunities. However, poor finishing and resolute defending by the Nigerian team denied them the breakthrough they sought. Dramani noted that his team has worked on their shortcomings during training sessions and is ready to put up an improved performance in the return leg.
“We have analyzed our mistakes from the first game and made the necessary adjustments,” Dramani said. “Our players understand the significance of this match and are prepared to give their all. We need to take our game to another level and remain focused for the entire 90 minutes.”
The Nigerian side, known as the Super Eagles B, also demonstrated resilience in Accra and will be looking to capitalize on home advantage in Uyo. However, Dramani is confident his team can rise to the occasion, silencing the Nigerian fans and securing victory.
“Our objective is clear: to win and qualify for CHAN. We respect Nigeria as a strong football nation, but we believe in our abilities and the work we have done so far,” he added.
