The performance of both players for Frank Lampard’s team so far this season has resulted in both countries fighting for their allegiance in international football.
It appears now England have won that battle with this call-up. If both players get fielded in any of the Three Lions’ upcoming European Qualifiers against Czech Republic and Bulgaria, it will automatically be the end for Nigeria’s hope of having the in the Super Eagles Team.
The Chelsea pair’s invitation also means that out of form Tottenham’s Dele Alli has been left out of the England squad.
Alli, who himself was also courted by Nigeria to play for the Eagles before he opted for the English team has made four appearances for Tottenham this season since returning from a hamstring injury but misses out on Gareth Southgate.
