Eko Hot Blog reports that Chelsea have officially granted permission for their Moroccan winger, Hakim Ziyech, to depart the club permanently before the summer transfer window.
Hakim Ziyech enjoyed a remarkable spell at Ajax, prompting Chelsea to acquire his services for €40 million on July 1, 2020.
In his three seasons at Stamford Bridge, Ziyech tallied 14 goals and contributed 13 assists across 107 appearances.
Because of the inconsistent form of the 31-year-old Moroccan international, he struggled to secure a regular place in Chelsea’s starting eleven.
Hence, ahead of the 2023-2024 season, he was sent on a season-long loan at Galatasaray which was expected to expire on June 30, 2024.
Since joining Galatasaray, he has showcased significant improvement, netting 8 goals and offering four assists in 21 appearances across all competitions.
In just one season, he has surpassed half of his total goal tally for Chelsea over three seasons.
As per a recent update from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on his verified social media page today, May 8, Galatasaray has opted to activate Hakim Ziyech’s buyout clause.
This means that the Turkish club will provide Chelsea with an additional £2.5 million on top of the £3 million they paid for his loan deal last year.
The transfer expert wrote, “Hakim Ziyech will not return to Chelsea as he’s staying in Galatasaray on a permanent move.
“Obligation to buy clause, triggered and signed as Chelsea already sent a letter to Gala confirming the agreement.”
