Chelsea vs. Manchester United usually holds its own rivalry and intensity, but with Frank Lampard’s second reign as interim-manager for the West London club, it was rather a quiet evening for the Blues who went home with 1 thing to console themselves with; they won the possession battle.
Manchester United’s home form played on the night to set the Red Devils riot as they struck past their bitter premier league rivals 4 goals to 1, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial getting their traditional goals against the Blues of London.
Former Real Madrid star, Carlos Henrique Casemiro inspired the Red Devils to an early lead with his strike within the 6th minute of play.
The goal was followed minutes later, shortly before the half-time whistle was blown, with Anthony Martial getting a surprise goal despite being mostly kept quiet by the Chelsea defence.
With a 2 goal advantage going into halftime, United returned with 2 more goals to seal the 3 points on the night.
Bruno Fernandes converted a spot kick for Manchester United past Chelsea goalkeeper, Kepa Arizabalaga in the 73rd minute, with Marcus Rashford leaving it to the tale end to do the damage.
Joao Felix, Chelsea forward on loan from Atletico Madrid pulled a goal back for the Blues to ruin United goalkeeper, David De Gea’s chance for another clean sheet.
