EKO HOT BLOG reports that Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly is reportedly impressed with former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino following talks over the head coach job at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea are still on the hunt for a new permanent manager ahead of next season, with the club having already appointed Frank Lampard as the interim manager until the end of the current season after Graham Potter was sacked.
The west London club has been linked with several potential candidates for the position, including Pochettino, Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique. However, according to a report from The Independent, Pochettino has impressed Chelsea’s hierarchy, including Boehly, with the clarity of his vision for the club.
Despite Chelsea’s management insisting that there is “no favourite as of yet,” the club has held several rounds of talks with both Pochettino and Nagelsmann. The report claims that Chelsea decided against appointing Nagelsmann as they felt he was “too similar” to Thomas Tuchel, who was sacked in September 2021.
The search for a new manager is a crucial one for Chelsea, who will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing season that saw them finish outside the top four in the Premier League and miss out on Champions League qualification.
The club is also expected to spend big in the summer transfer window in order to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
