Chelsea’s Problems Predates Me – Graham Potter Points Fingers At Tuchel

  • Chelsea manager, Graham Potter points fingers at former Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel for the team’s poor form this season.

  • Potter alleges that some experienced players in the team had issues with the club’s pre-season under Thomas Tuchel.

  • The Englishman reveals the pre-season tour did not work for the team like Tuchel could have hoped for.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Graham Potter, the current manager of Chelsea Football Club, has revealed that some of the squad members have claimed they had “the worst pre-season” under Thomas Tuchel last summer.

Thomas Tuchel was sacked in September and replaced by Potter, who is currently under pressure due to the club’s poor performance in recent matches.

EDITOR’S PICKS:

The Blues have won only one of their last 10 games, leaving them 11 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. They also trail Borussia Dortmund 1-0 from the first leg of their round of 16 Champions League tie.

According to Graham Potter, there were already existing issues within the team before he took over as the manager.

“Speaking to a few of the experienced guys, they said it was the worst pre-season they’ve had. The tour didn’t work as well as it would like”

“It’s really tough, I think my quote is, it is the toughest job in football, that was a few weeks ago. There are lots of factors for that. Again, if you just take the season, a sub-optimal pre-season, speaking to a couple of the experienced guys [who] thought it was the worst pre-season they’ve had for different reasons, that’s not to blame anybody, for different reasons that happened,” Potter said while speaking to reporters on Friday.

The comments by Potter suggest that the current struggles of Chelsea are not solely due to his management but rather issues that have existed within the team for a while. Nevertheless, he faces an uphill task in turning around the fortunes of the club in the remainder of the season.

Chelsea will be looking to bounce back from their recent run of poor form when they face Leeds United in the Premier League on Saturday.
