EKO HOT BLOG reports that the final moments of the competition, which took place at the Arena CDMX, saw a thrilling showdown between Adetshina and Victoria Kjaer Theilvig of Denmark, both poised to claim the crown. Ultimately, Theilvig emerged as the winner, succeeding Miss Universe 2023, Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua.
In an interview shared on X.com by the Miss Universe Nigeria organisation, Adetshina couldn’t contain her excitement, saying, “I’m so excited. I don’t have words to describe what I’m feeling right now, but I’m so proud of myself, and I just made history!”
Adetshina’s remarkable achievement came after a highly competitive event that saw 126 contestants from around the world, including 18 African nations, vie for the title. Her impressive performance, grace, and poise earned her admiration from both judges and audiences alike.
Her journey to Miss Universe was not without its hurdles. Earlier this year, Adetshina withdrew from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition after reaching the final stage, amidst controversy over her nationality.
Despite this setback, she remained determined and went on to win the Miss Universe Nigeria title, representing Taraba State.
