Chief Of Air Staff Urges INEC To Settle Bills For Airlifting Election Materials
Eko Hot Blog reports The Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to settle its outstanding bills to facilitate the Nigerian Air Force’s (NAF) assistance in airlifting materials for the upcoming by-elections.

The appeal was made during a meeting between Air Marshal Abubakar and INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, in Abuja.
Air Marshal Abubakar emphasized the need for financial commitments from INEC to enable the NAF to provide logistical support for the transportation of election materials.
The Chief of the Air Staff highlighted the importance of settling outstanding bills to enhance the efficiency of the NAF’s role in facilitating the electoral process.
The INEC Chairman visited the Chief of Air Staff to seek support for the upcoming by-elections scheduled for February 3. Prof. Yakubu acknowledged the significant logistical task of deploying election materials and requested the support of the Nigerian Air Force for the delivery of materials to specific locations in the North-East, South-East, and South-West geopolitical zones.
Prof. Yakubu stated, “The successful conduct of elections is largely hinged on robust security and well-choreographed logistics supply chain management. The Nigerian Air Force has been INEC’s dependable partner in providing security in addition to rapid airlift for the distribution of sensitive and non-sensitive electoral materials across the country.”
However, Air Marshal Abubakar pointed out that there were outstanding bills yet to be settled by INEC. He urged the commission to clear the bills to ensure optimal support from the Nigerian Air Force. The Chief of Air Staff assured INEC of the NAF’s continued commitment to supporting the electoral process.
The INEC Chairman expressed the commission’s commitment to collaborating with relevant stakeholders, including the Nigerian Air Force, to ensure a successful electoral exercise. He emphasized the need for transparency in the logistics and distribution of materials, involving all stakeholders, including political party agents, candidates, observers, and the media.

The upcoming by-elections involve the filling of vacancies in three senatorial districts, 17 federal and 28 state constituencies across 26 states. INEC aims to conduct a credible and transparent electoral process, with the logistical support of the Nigerian Air Force playing a crucial role.
