Chief Of Defence Staff, NiDCOM Boss Harp On Collaboration With Diaspora On Defence And Security

Nigeria’s Chief Of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor has expressed his openness to drawing from the rich vein of knowledge and expertise of Nigerians in the Diaspora who specialize in defence and security architecture to tackle the rising tide of insecurity in the country.

As gathered by EKO HOT BLOG, General Irabor stated this when he received the Chairman/CEO Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Reacting to the proposed Diaspora Defence and Security Conference, the DCS said given the dire security situation in the country, it would be most pertinent to synergize efforts with Nigerians in the Diaspora who have the requisite aptitude and virtuosity for National Development.

The Chief of Defence Staff commended the NIDCOM Boss, Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa for engaging Nigerians in the Diaspora towards meaningful contributions to National development. He promised to also sustain the drive for gender equity in the Armed Forces as well as ensuring a well structured data mapping of Nigerian Military Personnel serving in different countries globally.

The Chairman/CEO NIDCOM Hon Abike Dabiri-Erewa expressed gratitude for the warm and cordial reception accorded her and her team. She also Congratulated the Chief of Defence Staff on his appointment.

The former lawmaker noted that given the number of highly qualified Nigerians in the Defence and Security Sector in the Diaspora who are excelling, it becomes germane to bring them on board at the proposed DIASPORA DEFENCE AND SECURITY CONFERENCE.

The NIDCOM Boss also made a case for the enlistment of more women into the military for gender equity, and commended the CDS for coming up with a gender policy for women in the armed forces

The parley was attended by top military personnel and officials of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM.
