This new development has come ahead of the Apple event, with speculations of launching a new line of iPhones. This, on the other hand is believed to trigger concerns among foreign companies in China as the Sino-U.S. tensions escalate.

However, China has been working towards cutting down its reliance on foreign technologies, thereby urging its local firms, financial institutions in the country to patronize home-based software and promoting its domestic semiconductor chip manufacturing.

The campaign to support China-generated software began in 2020 in Beijing, when its leaders proposed a dual circulation growth model.

The model was to minimize its absolute reliance on international technology and markets due to possible threats it poises on the country’s data and security.

China has, thereby, urged big state-owned establishments, in May, to play a key role in its drive to attain self-reliance technology.

This development has fueled the rifts with the United States.

According to a report, Beijing is not willing to spare any U.S. company in its push to reduce its dependence on American technologies.

In a visit to China, the U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said U.S. companies complained to her that China had become “un-investible”.

The fines, raids and other actions have made it risky to do business in the world’s second-largest economy.
