China: US Missiles in Philippines Threaten Peace
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi criticized the U.S. deployment of intermediate-range missiles in the Philippines, stating it “undermines regional peace and stability”.
According to a statement released by the foreign ministry on Sunday, during a meeting with South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Tae-yul in New York on Saturday, Wang emphasized the importance of preventing “war or chaos on the Korean Peninsula,” as noted in a ministry website post.
The U.S. introduced the Typhon missile system in the Philippines earlier this year, a move that has drawn sharp rebuke from China.

The system is capable of launching cruise missiles aimed at Chinese targets. Both China and Russia have called for its removal, accusing Washington of intensifying an arms race in the region.
Wang expressed concerns that the missile deployment “is not in the interests of regional countries.”
As a strategic U.S. ally in Asia, the Philippines holds a key position in American military plans, particularly in the event of a conflict with China over Taiwan, which Beijing claims as its territory.
In addition, Wang noted that exchanges and cooperation between China and South Korea have increased this year.
