The National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) has called for caution as Nigeria battles a cholera outbreak that has claimed 30 lives and recorded 1,141 suspected cases.
The agency’s Director-General, Dr. Agnes Asagbra, emphasized the need for carefulness, especially during the festive period.
Dr. Asagbra urged Nigerians to prioritize hygiene practices, such as boiling drinking water and washing hands thoroughly with soap and water.
She also advised against consuming raw foods and encouraged proper waste disposal to prevent contamination.
“Early diagnosis and treatment are crucial,” Dr. Asagbra noted, urging Nigerians to report any suspected cases to the nearest hospital.
