Christmas Travel Made Easier as FG Subsidises Transport on 144 Routes

President Bola Tinubu has announced that the Federal Government is subsidising transportation costs across Nigeria as part of efforts to alleviate hardship during the festive period.

In his 2024 Christmas message, Tinubu confirmed that the government is offering free train rides and subsidizing road transport on 144 routes nationwide to make travel more affordable.

“For those traveling during this festive season, I wish you safe journeys. Rest assured, the government is taking all necessary measures to ensure our transportation routes are secure and convenient,” Tinubu said in the message he signed. “We are providing free train services and subsidized road transport costs across the country to make your travels easier.”

He also extended his Christmas greetings to Nigerians, urging citizens to pray for the nation’s leaders at all levels.

According to Tinubu, Christmas represents the fulfillment of divine prophecy and signifies the victory of love, peace, and unity. He described the occasion as a reminder that even in the darkest times, light can shine through, offering hope and comfort— a message that resonates with people of all faiths.

“As we celebrate this blessed season, let us remember those who are facing difficulties,” the president said. “They are not far from us—our neighbors, family members, and those we meet in places of worship, markets, offices, or boardrooms.”
