EKO HOT BLOG reports that Chelsea’s top target, Christopher Nkunku, showed Graham Potter exactly what they could be getting if they complete a £60million deal to sign him from RB Leipzig.
The forward found the net twice, with one goal ruled out, to help the Bundesliga side seal a 3-1 victory over Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old is a top target for the Blues after taking Europe by storm last season, scoring 35 goals in all competitions.
Nkunku had already netted eight in 12 appearances in the current campaign before taking on the Scottish champions and proved he has no trouble in finding the net at the highest level.
The France international thought he had opened the scoring for Leipzig, producing a delicious lobbed finish over Joe Hart after capitalising on some poor marking from the visitors. But the goal was subsequently ruled out by VAR after UEFA’s automatic offside system found him to have been fractionally offside.
He did then break the deadlock with a fine finish, bursting through on goal following a threaded pass from Dominik Szoboszlai.
Facing a one-on-one situation with the Celtic goalkeeper Hart, he shifted the ball past the former England stopper and slid home from an acute angle.
Andre Silva then added a brace to clinch the three points after Jota had equalised.
