Chukwueze Returns To Italy For Treatment After Hamstring Injury

Samuel Chukwueze has returned to Italy for treatment after suffering a hamstring injury during Nigeria’s third qualifying match against Libya for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Chukwueze came on as a substitute for Frank Onyeka in the 61st minute of the match.

The dynamic winger narrowly missed an assist when Ademola Lookman’s goal was controversially disallowed in the second half.

The 25-year-old sustained the injury late in the closely contested game and was unable to travel with his teammates to Benghazi for the reverse fixture on Sunday.

He will undergo further assessment by the AC Milan medical team to determine the severity of the injury.

The Super Eagles are set to face the Mediterranean Knights in Benina on Tuesday.

A victory in this match would secure their spot in the 2025 AFCON finals, which will be hosted by Morocco.
