Classic Nollywood Movies That Made The 90s Memorable

EKO HOT BLOG
These Nollywood films might be old, but they’re definitely gold. As we witnessed a boom in the Nigerian movie industry, the 90s can be said to be the golden age of Nollywood

Here is a list of Nollywood classic films that made the 90s memorable:

Domitila tells the tale of how young, single women in the large, bright city are drawn into prostitution out of greed and materialism. Sandra Achums, Enebeli Elebuwa, Maureen Ihua, Charles Okafor, Ada Ameh, Kate Henshaw, Anne Njemanze and so on star in this classic film.

Conspiracy tells the tale of a crazy woman called Grace (Onyeka Owenu), who gives birth to twin boys named James and John, but her boys have been taken away from her to live with a childless couple. Years later, in their medical professions, they become successful and then try to find a cure for their mother’s madness. Charles Okafor, Obi Mmadubogu, Nkem Owoh, Larry Koldsweat and so on also starred in this movie.

To seduce and snatch the soul of men with love, Lucifer sends Karashika, also known as Queen of Darkness, since it’s the end time. This movie starred Becky Okorie, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Sandra Achums, Obi Mmadubugo, Amaechi Muonagor, Sunshine Mc-Don, Adaora Ukoh, Ifeanyi Ikpoenyi, Andy Chukwu, Steve Eboh and many others.

If watching this particular film you didn’t get scarred, either you must have been fully developed or are an alien. Nneka tells the tale of an evil lady who, because of her money and soul, enchants and entices men. Most of the film focuses on Tony, her next victim, whom she almost completely kills. The film starred Ndidi Obi, Okechukwu Ogunjiofor, Rita Nzelu, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Eucharia Anunobi, Ngozi Ezeonu, and Sam Loco.

Ijele tells the story of Obiligwe, the most influential man in the village, who has only the eyes of a young maiden, Oma. Ijele went to the evil forest when ⁇ ma fell ill, where he battled the whirlwind and crossed a river of fire to find a remedy for her. He refuses when the goddess of rain and the whole village attempt to put another bride on him. Starring:, among others, Olu Jacobs, Sam Dede, Genevieve Nnaji, Eucheria Anunobi, Sam Loco Efe, Larry Koldsweat.

Scores to Settle focuses on Sade’s journey after the death of her husband, hardship, misery and uncertainty, and eventual rejection and ejection by her in-laws. The script was brought to life by Richard Mofe Damijo, Liz Benson, and Omotola Jalade Ekeinde.

Blood Money tells the tale of a former banker who, after losing his job, is desperate to get back into his fit. He runs into an old classmate who’s a millionaire now, so he introduces him to the world of rituals and money for blood. The classic was served to us by Zack Orji, Kanayo O. Kanayo, Francis Agu and Sam Dede.

True Confession tells the story of Mirabel, who, though her mother-in-law desperately wants a grandchild, is married without a child. Zack Orji, Liz Benson, Sola Fosudo and others starred in this hit movie.

Hour of Grace has made me weep. In this movie, after 10 years of marriage, an old couple can’t have a child, so Azuka persuades her husband, Chief Amadi, to marry Helen, her best friend so that she can have a child. That was the start of her woes. I’m not sure whether this film was based on an actual occurrence or completely fictional, but it made me shed tears as if it were real. Hilda Dokubo (as Azuka), Justice Esiri (as Chief Amado), Liz Benson (as Helen), my personal favorite, starred in the movie, among others.

In the year 2000, Issakaba was released. This tells the story of a group of vigilantes, Bakassi Boys, who fight crimes such as murder, armed robbery, banditry, etc. The fight against Eddy Nawgu, a sorcerer who terrorized the people of the Nawgu group in the state of Anambra, is also portrayed. Sam Dede, Chiwetalu Agu, Diewait Ikpechukwu, Zulu Adigwe, Pete Ene and John Okafor were among the cast.

Evil Genius, starring Bob Manuel Udokwu, Zack Orji and Sandra Achums, and others, is a Nollywood horror film.

The story of Pastor Voke, who is the victim of two women who are willing to sleep with him, is revealed by Out of Bounds. He is trapped in the web of lies and deception until the pastor steps out of his marriage. The film was made by, among others, Richard Mofe Damijo, Bimbo Akintola, Rachael Oniga, Steve Rhodes.

This is a comedy film that tells the story of two friends who plan and invent means to raise money for a US visa, Loco and Mambo Mambo. Their attempts typically land them in amusing circumstances. Yogo Pam Pam is Pam Pam’s sequel. These roles were performed by Nkem Owoh and Okey Bakassi.

Suicide Mission explains how it is possible to use African voodoo to get a man. Monique uses spiritual means to get between Austin and his wife, Winnie, in the movie. I assume this is the first film in Nollywood that uses special effects to trap a human being in a bottle. Richard Mofe Damijo, Regina Askia, Obot Etuk, Patrick Doyle, Peter Bunor Jr. and others were among the actors that played in this film.
