Clearing Agent In Court For Duping Woman Of N76,000
A 25-year-old clearing agent, Yahya Sani, has been arraigned before an Apapa Magistrate’s Court for allegedly duping a woman of N76,000 in Apapa.
Sani, arraigned on Friday, is facing a two-count charge of false pretence and stealing. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Edet Ekpo, the defendant committed the offences on November 13, 2019 at No 14, Calcutta Crescent, Apapa.

He said, “The defendant obtained the sum of N76,000 with pretence of helping one Hauwa Blessing to transfer it into her account, knowing same to be false.”
According to him, the offences are punishable under sections 314(3) and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.
Magistrate Taiwo Popoola adjourned the matter till january 14for mention while granting the defendant bail in the sum of N20,000 with two sureties in like sum.
The sureties are required to furnish the court with evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
