CNI Condenms Killings Of Protesters, Innocent Nigerians Across The Country
By Idris Olukoya
Concerned Nation Builders Initiative, (CNI), a non-governmental organisation, has condemned the unjust killings of protesters and innocent Nigerians across the country.
Mr Sultan Teslim, the Public Relations Officer of the organization, made the condemnation while speaking with Eko Hot Blog Correspondent Idris Olukoya in Epe, Lagos.
He lamented and frowned at the ugly incident that happened on Oct. 20th that led to a huge mortality rate of citizens, when the government security agencies opened fire on protesters.
“The action is uncalled for, Nigerians have the right to exercise their franchise through a peaceful protest.
“It is unconstitutional and unlawful act to kill a citizen unjustly. This act is condemnable and dehumanizing, justice should prevail, ” as it is said ‘injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, “he stated.

According to him, the EndSARS movement agenda by the youths was not to overthrow the government but to register their grievances on the governance in the country, also to deepen democratic culture that ought to derive its powers from the wish of the people.
Again, to crave for the indulgence government’s attention to the horrible crimes committed daily against Nigerians by the uniform men.
“It is unfortunate that some groups of people have a bad intention to thwart the peaceful protest and introduce violence, break jail and kill citizens, which was initiated by the enemies of the protests, ” he explained.
Eko Hot Blog reports that it is now the 14th day, the protesters started, demanding for better welfare and improved governance.
Mr Teslim noted that the present generation has held the “bull by the horn” by demanding for their citizens’ rights peacefully.
“The youth draws their strength from history. They derived their energy from the long term suffering, deprivations and repression which Nigerians have had to endure for years.
“Their wisdom is sourced from the heroic struggle of their forefathers, those who have once acted as heroes, to assure the future is guaranteed for the Masses.
“They derive their resilience from the brutality they have suffered in the hands of those they pay to protect them, but who have suddenly turned their guns against the masses, ” he said.
He called on the international community, leaders of great democratic nations and United Nation to intervene in the perrenial challenges that are confronting the nation at the moment before it gets out of control.
Mr Teslim frowned at the Lagos state government pronouncement ordering security agencies to resist protesters.
“The order is harsh and had led to the death of several protesters whose only offense was to vocally express themselves against a horrific system that led to the strangulation of some Nigerians.
“What the Nigerians youths are demanding for, is simple, they want police reforms, they condemn unjust killings, they want the leaders to lead the young ones with decent examples, they want the government to protect them from the heat of the sun.
“They want the authorities to allow them to speak against what led to the deaths of their fellow youths, rather, the government responded with bullets and armoured vans.
“It will be recalled that in the past 14 days, there has been what seemed as a nationwide protest by Nigerians to press government to put an end to impunity of the defunct police Special Anti-Robbery Squad, and other unpopular government policies, ” he noted.
He said the best way to address these situations was for the government to have a peaceful resolution with the Nigeria youths and yield to their plea.
“They want a total reformation in Nigeria system, they want a better life, they want the government to discharge their mandate accordingly.
“Any public office holders who fails in his or her duties should be dismissed and any of the authority found guilty of corruption and other ill manners should be prosecuted, ” he said.
Mr Teslim urged the Nigerian youths to be resilience in their peaceful protest, as victory is assured in the end.
“A minutes silence was observed for the repose of the souls of those who laid their lives in the course of the protest. May the Lord restored peace into our great nation, Nigeria, ” he added.
