EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folashade Adefisayo has restated the commitment of the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu towards investing in the education sector in the Epe Division.
Mrs Adefisayo disclosed this while addressing education stakeholders at Epe Grammar School, on Thursday 28th July 2022.
She noted that one of the giant strides of the administration of the governor so far was the employment of over 4,000 teachers adding that it became necessary because teachers retiring from the service must be replaced.

While she appealed to the gathering that newly employed teachers should be allowed to stay in riverine areas, she also informed that it was pertinent for teachers to meet the required qualifications of NCE, PGDE, M.Ed and B.Ed to be employed in the teaching service, thereby commending the leadership of the Teaching Service Commission, TESCOM, for raising the standard of employment by taking in the best.
”Whenever we deploy teachers to the Waterside, these employees would come to you and you’ll give them notes for redeployment, please, let them be wherever they are posted, nothing would happen to them as they are in the midst of their people.
“So, don’t interfere with their posting. Let the person stay for a year or two. I also want to use this medium to applaud TESCOM for giving us the best of teachers with the required qualifications and not HND Engineering graduates,” she said.
Speaking further, Mrs Adefisayo enlightened the stakeholders on the significance of the Comprehensive School program initiated by the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration, stating that it was designed to cater for school leavers to learn a vocation of their choice with the provision of tablets.
She said that before the commencement of the program and the Sanwo-Olu Model Schol, she was mandated to complete all abandoned projects in all schools.
She added that Elemoro School and Ogunmodede College have so far been in place with more coming.
”We observed that our children are dropping out of schools and that’s why we initiated the comprehensive schools project. We started with twelve (12) schools and Ogunmodede College in Epe is one of the benefitting schools.
“The students are taught ICT, Agric, fashion design, hairdressing, make-up, building and design, photography and videography, catering and auto mechanic.
The Governor has said that we must reach fifty (50) schools this year and out of those fifty, Epe would benefit, we will bring the comprehensive school down here. So, parents, allow your children to enrol at the comprehensive school, it doesn’t mean they won’t go to the university,” she said.
The Commissioners applauded the Royal Fathers whom she said are contributing to the growth of schools in their communities through their wonderful feedback for sending representatives to join in the discussion.
Reacting to the discussion, Mr Adeyemi Lookman, an Alumna of Odo-Obara High School raised concerns about the dilapidated state of the once alluring and edifying school hall of the Junior and Senior High School, calling for urgent attention before it becomes a disaster,
Alhaja Kawojue, a PTA executive of Army Children Junior and Senior High School commended the Lagos state government for constructing the perimeter fence of the school and therefore pleaded for the construction of a prototype building for a conducive learning atmosphere in the densely populated school.
