EDITOR’S PICKS

The chairman, who doubles as the global vice president II of the Molusi College Old Students Association (MOCOSA), on, Thursday, January 25, 2024, acknowledged their collective effort.

He made this known while speaking with Eko Hot Blog after the successful celebration of the award ceremony held on the school premises to honor deserving Molusians.

Reflecting on the progress made, Odeniyi attributed the achievements to divine favor while emphasizing that the journey is nearing its completion, signifying the culmination of months of planning and coordination.

He said, “I happened to be the chairman of the planning committee for the 75th founding anniversary of the school. Being the chairman of a committee means you have a group of people who are working, though credit is usually given to the chairman, but you know that there are foot soldiers that deserve to be thanked.

“God has been good to us, and we give Him all the glory. It’s not over yet, but it’s almost over.”

Odeniyi emphasized the significance of the excellence award, highlighting the meticulous selection process involving recommendations from various sets, branches, and chapters.

In his words, “Looking at the wordings of the award, it’s an award for excellence, and excellence comes from a lot of things you do. We don’t have binoculars or all-seeing eyes, so we rely on the various sets, branches, and chapters, locally and internationally.

“Within your set, people can easily make recommendations to the committee, and when we look at the citation, we agree and disagree to pick the right person. You must have been someone who plays his part, in terms of helping the school or helping the association.”

Acknowledging the unwavering support from the organization, Odeniyi praised their commitment for reaching fundraising targets despite initial skepticism.

He commended the overwhelming support from Molusians, stating that, “The support from this organization has been fantastic. There’s no way it could have been better. I see this organization as one that will give you an assignment and back you up. Without their support, the committee would fail. I have enjoyed tremendous backing.

“We were sent out to execute the objectives by the executive, with our budget about 20 million naira. The Molusians came up and supported massively, despite some saying our expectations of raising over 100 million naira are too high. But it’s good to have high expectations than set a small limit.”

Proud of the accomplishments, Odeniyi highlighted the positive reception and acknowledgment received from the community, affirming the committee’s commitment to excellence and dedication to their responsibilities.

Odeniyi reflected on the school motto, “Only the best is good for Africa,” emphasizing the ethos of diligence and integrity instilled by the institution.
