Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has facilitated the arrest of an unidentified community leader in the state over allegations of domestic violence.
In a statement issued by Adejoke Ladenegan-Oginni, a Lagos DSVA offical, on Friday, the agency disclosed that it rescued the suspect’s wife from their apartment on Easter Sunday.

The community leader was accused of brutally assaulting his wife, leaving her with grievous injuries on her body and swollen eyes.
The DVSA, which reiterated its commitment to protecting victims and ensuring punishment for perpetrators, said that the suspected abuser will be arraigned soon after the state’s Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) requested his case file.
“The Lagos State Government through its Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has reiterated that Domestic violence is a crime against the State,” the statement reads.
“This statement was made by the Executive Secretary Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi following a report of physical assault by the Community leader who allegedly brutally assaulted his wife on Easter Sunday leaving her with grievous injuries on her body and swollen eyes.
“The Lagos DSVA rescued the survivor from the site of abuse and has been placed in private shelter. The perpetrator has been arrested by the Divisional police station, Ajah, Family Support Unit and he is currently in detention even as the DPP has requested for the duplicate case file.
