Commuters Left In The Lurch As Flood Takes Over Parts of Lagos
Commuters Stranded As Flood Takes Over Oworoshoki, Bariga, Oshodi
Hundreds of commuters were stranded early Wednesday morning as flood took over the Oworoshoki, Gbagada and Oshodi areas of Lagos.
Ekohotblog correspondent who monitored the situation also observed a spike in the cost of transportation due to a few number of commercial vehicles on the road .
The flood, due to heavy downpour created flood that spread under the bridge of Oworoshoki from Olopo Meji to Ifako.
It also led to heavy traffic as vehicles could not move freely. The traffic, which began at Berger Bus Stop at Bariga spread to Alapere in Ketu as passengers and car owners lamented.
At Oshodi, underneath the ultramodern bus stop was flooded. Commuters could not move but stuck in the area for hours.
A passenger who simply identified herself as Moji said she had never experienced such kind of flood in Oshodi.
“This is terrible. I work in Mile 2 and I have been here for almost one hour now. I cannot cross to the other side due to the flood and rains. Since I started working about six years ago along this axis, I have never seen this kind of flood. It is massive.”
The situation is not different in Lekki, Victoria Island and Ikoyi parts of Lagos. Many vehicles were stuck in the traffic due to flood.
