Comrade Giwa Moore Advocates for Skills Development at Lira Foundation’s Back to School Event
Ekohotblog reports that Comrade Giwa Moore, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos State on Technical and Vocational Education, attended the Lira Foundation’s annual Back to School event, organized by Hon. Lijirin Ruth, the Senior Special Assistant on Civic Engagement, to support underprivileged students with essential school materials.
At the event, Comrade Moore addressed the gathering, emphasizing the critical importance of skills development for the nation’s youth.
He urged young people to look beyond academic qualifications and prioritize acquiring practical skills that would enable them to create employment opportunities in today’s increasingly competitive economic environment.

“Skills development is no longer a luxury but a necessity,” Giwa Moore stated. “In an era where job opportunities are limited, youths need to equip themselves with the skills to innovate and become self-reliant.”
The event, which took place yesterday, saw a large turnout of students from disadvantaged backgrounds who received school bags, textbooks, shoes, and socks—essential items to ease their transition into the new academic year. Comrade Moore expressed his admiration for Hon. Lijirin Ruth’s dedication to organizing the event and for her commitment to uplifting students who face financial challenges.
He further highlighted that initiatives like this, which focus on providing essential educational resources, play a significant role in supporting the development of a skilled and productive workforce.
