According to spokesperson Superintendent Grace Iringe-Koko, intelligence reports revealed 2 Baba was killed during a recent joint security raid in Idu-Ekpeye community, Ahoada East LGA.
“On February 17, 2024, at around 12:00 hrs, 2BABA and his gang attacked Okogbe town and Odiokwu community in Ahoda West LGA, destroying pipelines. At 04:00 hrs, operatives raided 2BABA’s new camp. Despite a fierce gun battle, 2BABA and his gang members escaped,” Iringe-Koko stated.
She added that around 14:00 hrs, intelligence confirmed 2 Baba’s death after he lost consciousness and resuscitation attempts failed.
DPO Angbashim was ambushed and captured by 2 Baba’s cult gang in Odiemudie, Ahoada East LGA last September. The gang then dismembered Angbashim’s body and filmed the murder.
Since the DPO’s death, the police command had been pursuing 2 Baba, with constant raids on his gang’s hideouts that killed some of his lieutenants.
“Efforts are in progress to retrieve the body of the infamous killer, while investigations into the Iceland cult’s activities in the region continue,” Iringe-Koko noted.
Items recovered from 2 Baba’s last hideout include firearms, explosives and charms. His death sparked jubilation in Ahoada as residents felt terrorized by the notorious cultist.
In a November 2023 radio interview, 2 Baba denied involvement in the DPO’s murder, claiming “I was shocked when I heard about the incident.”
