EKO HOT BLOG reports that amid claims of Christmas and New Year rice handouts worth N200 million from President Bola Tinubu, discordant statements have emerged from within the Senate.
While Adeyemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, vehemently denied the claims, a Senate source confirmed the initiative, stating that deliveries are still ongoing with some senators yet to receive the rice.
Adding to the confusion, Olusegun Dada, President Tinubu’s Social Media Aide, earlier confirmed the distribution on his platform. He stated that senators received N200 million worth of palliatives, while House of Representatives members received N100 million.
Senator Adaramodu, however, countered these claims, emphasizing that neither he nor his colleagues from the southwest had received any government-supplied food items. He clarified that he personally funded and distributed food items to his constituents, upholding his annual tradition regardless of external support.
Despite Adaramodu’s denial, a Senate source close to the leadership corroborated the rice allocation, indicating that while some senators have received their share, others remain awaiting delivery.
This conflicting information leaves the public with unanswered questions about the true extent of the rice distribution program and its potential role in supporting constituents during the festive season. The lack of clarity from official channels further fuels speculation and uncertainty.
