Consensus Candidate: Crises Rock Apc Over Chairman, Adamu’s Choice + Fmr Enugu Gov Tipped As Atiku’s Vice

Lawan: Adamu’s comment splits NWC, APC Delegates Demand His Resignation
The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu’s claim that the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, is the party’s consensus candidate has stirred the hornet’s nest.

Adamu’s comment, insiders said, has caused a hoopla and members of the party’s National Working Committee, NWC, are divided.
Contrary to the position of most northern governors on power shift to the South, Senator Adamu had announced Senate Lawan as APC consensus presidential candidate.
Adamu, Vanguard gathered, announced this at the meeting of the NWC, on Monday, in Abuja.

According to the Nation, a section of delegates of the All Progressives Congress(APC) have called on the National chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu to tender his resignation.
The outraged NWC members dismissed the statement as “His personal opinion”.
Reacting, many said Adamu’s antics showed that he is working overzealously for “a small cabal including few shadowy but influential figures at the Presidency whose stock in trade is to drop the name of President Buhari, who is a worthy and highly principled leader, in pursuit of their nefarious agenda.”

Tension In APC Secretariate As National Chairman, Adamu Chases Journalists Out
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdulahi Adamu has chased journalists covering the activities of the party out of the party secretariat.
One of the security personnel at the party secretariat told journalists that Adamu was coming back for the NWC meeting and he would not want to see anybody at the secretariat, including journalists.

“The chairman is coming back and he doesn’t want to see anybody here including journalists,” he said.
The National Working Committee (NWC) will still continue following a stalemate over the issue of a consensus presidential candidate, ahead of the primary.
Adamu had earlier announced the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan as the consensus candidate during the NWC meeting.

PDP supporters make case for Nnamani as Atiku’s running mate
Supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party, have enjoined the party’s Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, to consider former Enugu State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, as his running mate.A leading figure in the group and chieftain of the party from Kogi state, Musa Musa said the southern part of the country has an array of competent loyal party men for Atiku to choose from but noted that current calculations favor the South East.

He said, “As it stands today, the South East Zone should ordinarily be allowed to produce the Presidential candidate for the 2023 election, but since Atiku Abubakar; a north Easterner is our candidate, it is only fair and logical that the vice presidential position to the south be micro zoned to the south East. “
The protagonists of the South East for the vice presidential position contend that since 1999, the zone has had the opportunity to produce neither the president nor the Vice President.
