Coronavirus: Churches In Lagos Comply With LASG Directive As LASEPA  Begin Enforcement

It was an unusual scenario on the streets of Lagos as most churches were under lock and key while others reduced the number of worshippers in compliance to the directive of the Lagos state government to churches, mosques and places of social gatherings to ensure that over 50 persons do not gather at once.

The restriction which was declared on Wednesday obviously received the blessings of the churches as observed by Ekohotblog on Sunday.

In a quest to measuring the level of compliance, this online news platform visited some churches across the state.

The Parish Priest of the church, Reverend father Anthony Fadairo, revealed that he had to stand at the entrance to ensure that the members who didn’t get the information via phone calls, and social media got it directly from him.

Meanwhile, in other parts of the state, it was gathered that a combined team of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and Lagos State Safety Commission have started enforcing the ban. They swooped on churches and event centers and some of such places visited violated the restriction order by the government; thus, they were shut down by the team.

He pointed out the state government has ensured the set up of a covid-19 center in each of the 5 divisions of Lagos state to reduce the time it takes to get the necessary care for any case.

The effects of the novel virus has definitely dealt a lasting impression on humanity and precautionary measures to contain the virus is the best bet as no vaccine has been invented to prevent the virus.

As of Press time, the number of confirmed cases in Lagos is 19 following 3 more cases announced on Sunday; bringing the total number in the country to 30 with 2 already discharged.
