Coronavirus: Lagos About To Implode Says Otunba TJ Abass
With the spate of the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) globally, the governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu has been called on to direct a total shutdown of the state to forestall an implosion.
This call was made by frontline social commentator, publisher and journalist, Otunba TJ Abass on a business lunch media review a television broadcast on KaftanTv.
Otunba TJ Abass stated that the number of confirmed cases isn’t actually the true state of the situation because of the capacity of the government to test suspected cases is very low.
TJ Abass said that the unavailability of data is also a major setback to determine the total number of infected patients.
“Life is still going as usual in many places in Lagos. The transportation sector in Lagos is as lively before the emergence of Coronavirus”.
Otunba TJ Abass lamented that the directive of the Lagos state government has been taken with kid gloves.
“Lagosians are not taking the issue of covid-19 seriously as private firms, business organisation and bus parks go about their normal daily activities insisting that the pandemic is not as serious as it is described by the Media”
He further noted that the feeling of invincibility being showcased by the younger generation that the virus cannot get to them is a call for concern. Nigerians are still basking in the euphoria of the achievements of the government regarding during the Ebola crisis.
Abass said that with conflicting stories on the mode of transmission of the virus, the best bet is to call for a total shut down to curb the spread which he believes has gone far beyond what is imagined.
If the government can shut down Lagos state at this time, it would go a long way in curbing the spread of the virus which is ravaging the more advanced world that has better health facilities and health lifestyle.
If the Governor fails to shut down Lagos state now might erode all the gains experienced in his administration particularly his leadership role during the coronavirus crisis.
“Mr governor shut this State down now. Lagos State needs a total lockdown, he concluded.
