Despite the ban on public gatherings to curb the spread of Coronavirus, churches in Ondo State have been granted permission to hold Easter Sunday which is to commemorate the Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In a statement released by the chairman of Ondo State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria(CAN), Reverend John Oladapo on Wednesday April 8, he said the state granted permission to the churches on the grounds that they would abide by the measures aimed at curtailing the spread of the virus.
It includes washing of hands for 20 seconds with soap and water, use of alcohol based sanitizers, , limiting services to 50 persons in a medium size building, 20 people in a small church building, while big and cathedrals must maintain 3 members on a pew.
The services which would hold between 7am and 12 noon on Sunday will not be posted on social media, Oladapo warned.
He also cancelled all Good Friday programmes, Jumat prayers and Galilee services on Monday, saying that the ban on all social, political and religious gatherings continues afterwards, until further notice.
