Coronavirus: Seyi Makinde Tests Positive, Urges Residents To Stay At Home
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has urged residents to comply with directives aimed at curbing the deadly coronavirus in the state.
This is following his status as a carrier of the virus.
Ekohotblog recalls that the governor made the announcement on Monday afternoon via his Twitter page.
“I just received my COVID-19 confirmation test result. It is positive. I am asymptomatic and will continue to self-isolate,” he wrote.
While recuperation goes on, the governor appointed his deputy, former Chief Medical Director of the University College, Ibadan, Prof Temitope Alonge, as the head of Oyo COVID-19 Task Force
Makinde added that the threat of the virus is real and should be taken seriously, with rules strictly obeyed as that is the only precautionary step to mitigate the efect and prevent the community spread
“Please, continue to comply with all the directives from the COVID-19 Task Force. Stay home, stay safe,” he said.
