‘Cost Of Presidential System Too Expensive’ – Wale Raji Advocates For Parliamentary Democracy
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Hon. Wale Raji, the Chairman of the House Committee on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) has stated that the cost of the presidential system of government is too expensive.
Raji spoke on the push for parliamentary democracy during his appearance on TVC News’ ‘This Morning’ show on Wednesday morning.

Recall that the debate to return to the parliamentary system of government has been ongoing in the country following the proposal by over 60 members of the National Parliament, with the cost of Presidential system cited as the main reason of this push.
According to the lawmaker, resources needed for the development of the nation has been directed towards running Goverment.
He stated that: “There is no system that doesn’t have advantages, but everyone knows that the present system is just too expensive.
“The resources we need for the development has been directed towards running Goverment. We believe that the Parliamentary system there is cheaper, open and even more transparent.
“In the presidential system, the cost of Election from primaries to final elections is really huge, but under the Parliamentary system, all that is needed to happen is to be elected from the constituency and elected from the senate.”
Nigeria currently practices a presidential system of government which allows for a direct election of the president.
