The Federal High sitting in Abuja has denied the application suit filed by Faisal Maina asking to be relocated from the Nigeria Police Special Tactical Squad to the Nigerian Correctional Service facility.
The Court in it judgment delivered by Justice Okon Abang denied the application for relocation.
It could be recalled that Faisal and his father, Abdulrasheed, the former Pension Reform Task Team chairman, are being prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on 12 counts bordering on operating fictitious bank accounts, money laundering and fraud to the tune of N2.1bn.
It was gathered that Faisal is currently being held in custody of Nigerian Police Special Tactical Squad in Asokoro, Abuja while his father has been remanded at the Kuje prison.
At the hearing on Wednesday the counsel to Faisal noted that he was denied access to his client by the police and therefore, prayed the court to relocate him to a correctional facility.
However, the judge noted that there was no evidence that corroborated the claim of the defence counsel that the police denied them access to the defendant.
He described it as “hearsay witnessing”
He said “The application to transfer the defendant to any other place other than the Nigeria Police Special Tactical Squad, Asokoro, is hereby refused.”
