Five persons, said to be members of the Eiye Confraternity, on Wednesday were Arraigned before an Osun State Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo for allegedly murdering one Monsuru Lawal.
The suspects, identified as Nasirudeen Jamiu, 27; Ganiyu Saheed, 25; Adebisi Idiris, 24; Adeoye Sodiq, 24; and Kasali Afeez, 24, allegedly shot Lawal in the head, which resulted in his death.
The five men were arraigned on three counts of conspiracy, murder and membership of an unlawful society.
Addressing the court, the police prosecutor, Inspector Elisa Oluwasegun, explained that the accused and others yet-to-be apprehended committed the offences on July 9, 2019, in the Isale-Osun area of the state.
He added that the offences were contrary to and punishable under sections 324, 316, 64 (a) and (b) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34 Vol II, Law of Osun State, 2002.
The magistrate, A. O. Ajanaku, directed that the case file be duplicated and transferred to the Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
She subsequently ordered that the accused be remanded in the Ilesha Prison and adjourned the case till October 23 for mention.
