The police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leranmo, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on November 21, 2020 at a hotel along Ado-Ikere Road in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital.
The police prosecutor alleged that “the defendant, being a policeman, on the said date, unlawfully murdered one Abayomi Olaoye, 31, by shooting him with his gun at a bar” in the hotel.
“The offence is punishable under Section 319 (1) of the Criminal Code, Cap. C 16, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012”, he added.
Leranmo told the court that he had duplicated the case file and sent to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.
The court did not take the plea of the defendant.
The Chief Magistrate, Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered that Goji be remanded in prison pending legal advice.
The case was adjourned till December 17, 2020.
