An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, ordered the remand of a 38-year-old man, Ajayi Olumide, at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged attempted murder, robbery.
The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for attempted murder and robbery.
The prosecutor, Insp Oriyomi Akinwale, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 18 in Ado-Ekiti, Eko hot blog gathered.
Akinwale alleged that the defendant attempted to murder and robbed one Alowoye Bosede.
He said the defendant went to the complainant’s house to attack her, dealt some blow on her face and nose which resulted into bleeding, and was later hospitalised.
He added that the defendant also allegedly robbed the complainant of her phone.
According to him, the offences contravened Sections 320 and 402 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in the correctional centre pending legal advice from the office of Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
The plea of the defendant was not taken.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abdulhamid Lawal, ordered the remand of the defendant at the correctional facility, pending issuance of legal advice.
He adjourned the case until March 30 for mention.
