Court Remands Suspected Akure-Killer Mother In Prison

An Akure Magistrate court has ordered that Mrs Elizabeth Akinola who allegedly tortured her 6 year old daughter to death, be remanded in prison custody in Akure.

Testimony Awe, a 6 year old girl was allegedly tortured to death by her mother on the 21st of August, 2019 at Iro street in Akure, the state capital.

The suspect was said to have beaten the girl to death because her pastor said Testimony was possessed and there was the need to cast out the demons.

After some days on the run, the long arm of the law caught up with her. Though, her husband, Felix Babalola is still at large.

Today, the trial of Mrs Akinola in court begins The accused is slammed with Murder charges.

The defence counsel, Israel Balogun pleaded that the accused should be remanded in police custody to enable him prepare for his defence.

However, the Chief Magistrate, Victorial Bob-Manuel ruled that the suspect should be remanded at Olokuta prison pending issuance of legal advice.

The magistrate therefore adjourned the case till October 9.
