A Karmo Grade I Area Court, Abuja on Thursday ordered that a 25-year-old woman, Lauratu Mohammed, who pleaded guilty to abandoning a two-month-old baby, be remanded in a correctional centre, pending sentencing.

Mohammed of Kado Village Abuja pleaded guilty on a count charge of cruelty to a child and begged the court for mercy.

The Prosecution Counsel, Mrs Ijeoma Ukagha, told the court that the matter was lodged at the Life Camp Police Station by one Suleiman Dauda, of Kado Village, Abuja on July 13.
