Court Sentences Man To Death For Killing Wife And Son

  • He said he used the axe to hit his deceased wife three times in the head and that while she was still struggling for life, he used the cutlass to hack little Revelation to death.

An Adamawa High court presided over by Justice Fatimah Tafida has convicted and sentenced a man to death.

The 40-year-old man, Bangos Adamu was sentenced to die by hanging having been found guilty of killing his wife, Regina Bangos, and his stepson, Revelation James.

The police had prosecuted the convict, a farmer for killing his wife by hitting her with an axe and hacking her child with a cutlass.

In his confessional testimony, Bangos said that he killed his late wife because she always threatened to leave him for her ex-husband.

He said when he married her, she came to his house with Revelation, whom she had for her ex-husband. He said his seven-year-old stepson would also support his mum anytime she threatened to leave his house.

He told the court that on Jun 15 this year, he was at home when she asked him to buy bread for breakfast instead of grains, he said her insistence on grains led to an argument as his deceased wife started murmuring and threatening to leave his house. He said this got him furious and he made up his mind to assault her.

Bangos said when they had retired to bed, he went into their room with an axe and a cutlass to attack them. He said he used the axe to hit his deceased wife three times in the head and that while she was still struggling for life, he used the cutlass to hack little Revelation to death.
