EKO HOT BLOG reports that this follows a prior order by Justice Emeka Nwite on September 3, 2024, which directed that Bristol remain in custody at the Kuje Correctional Centre until September 23, 2024, after his arraignment by the police. Bristol faces a nine-count charge related to cybercrime, to which he pleaded not guilty.
The charges against him include soliciting support for the #EndBadGovernance protests, making false accusations of money laundering against President Bola Tinubu, and unlawfully handling classified documents, violating the Official Secrets Act of 1962.
Bristol’s defense team, led by Deji Adeyanju, has filed a request for bail on health grounds.
Although the court denied an oral bail request, Justice Nwite instructed the defense to submit a formal written application.
Adeyanju also sought to have Bristol remain in police custody due to health concerns, but the court ruled that he should stay in the Kuje Correctional Centre until the next hearing on September 23.
