COVID-19: Add Face Mask To Your Palliatives, Residents Charge Lagos Govt

Lagosians have commended the efforts of Lagos State Government for curbing COVID-19 with the provision of medical equipment and palliative cares, adding that giving of nose covers to every resident will be more appreciated.

Having commended the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, for his proactive approach to prevent the spread of coronavirus pandemic, they suggested that the provision of masks or nose covers for residents will also be of great assistance to Lagosians.

Residents brought up this new idea today, Tuesday, 19 May 2020, when being interviewed by our reporter.

Mr. Abdul Aziz Adigun said he wanted the state government to provide the nose covers for citizens as he had witnessed many occasions when citizens would be molested by armed forces just because they went out without using nose covers.

“I don’t think people are not aware of the information that using nose cover is very important to everyone in Nigeria, especially in Lagos, but people are forgetful in nature,” he said.

A security expert, Mr. Ayomide Moshood, said citizens are just adamant about their foolish idea that coronavirus is not real, adding that provision of free nose covers by the government to the citizens may save their lives from dying in ignorance.

“Police are really trying to implement the usage of nose covers, Baale and CDA representatives should also help in disseminating the information to residents,” he said.

A confectioner at ‘Five Loaves Bakery’, Lekki, Mr. Chibuzor popularly known as five loaves, said nose covers are used to prevent users from contracting hazardous airborne diseases besides COVID-19.

He added that nose covers are affordable but not taken as serious facet by the citizens.

“If the state government can order all the local government to provide the nose covers for residents, it may be a source of persuasion to them,” he said.
