COVID-19: Buhari Govt To Announce Details For Fresh Phase Of Lockdown On Thursday

The federal government Of Nigeria will release new protocols for the next phase of efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19 in the country on Thursday 6th of August, 2020.

The National Coordinator of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, Dr Sani Aliyu, disclosed this report during Monday’s press briefing in Abuja.

“I will like to remind us all of the safety guidelines for the eased lockdown phase two, which will continue to be in place until Thursday, August 6, when we will announce a new protocol for the third phase,”.

“more countries were experiencing a second wave of COVID-19, forcing them back into lockdown”.

Corroborating Aliyu’s comments, the PTF Chairman and Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, said the new protocols will be released after its sixth interim report must have been submitted to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Mustapha said that “As mentioned during our last press briefing of Monday July 27, 2020, the PTF will submit its sixth interim report to Mr President and subject to his approval, we hope to present the way forward to Nigerians at the next briefing on Thursday, 6th August,2020,”.
