Concerned NationBuilders Initiative (CNI), an NGO, has pleaded with residents of the Epe community to adhere strictly to the directives of the government and medical experts on how to curb the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Prince Ladi Kassim, the Welfare Director of the NGO, told Eko Hot Blog Correspondent in Epe, on Friday that some Epe residents were still behaving in their old ways and shunning warning on social distancing and wearing of face mask
“Nigerians should desist from the notion of obeying these directives as a favor to the government,’’ He said.
He decried the low level of awareness and compliance as some Epe indigenes feel that abiding with the directives was a task and service to the government, rather than a means to safeguard their lives and those of others.
“It is despicable that less than 25 percent of Epe residents comply appropriately to hand washing, wearing of face mask; whereas social and physical distancing are observed in the breach.
“It is of prime importance to note that wealth without health is living in a state of languor.

“Unless the Epe community people understand that observation of COVID-19 prevention protocol is for their interest and that of others, the future, just like the present, will be very bleak.
“It is ineluctable and inexorable for us to collectively and collaboratively wage war against COVID-19 and free ourselves and our dear country from the deadly pandemic,’’ he said.
The Organisation Welfare Director, however, commended those who had provided palliative stimulus for the indigent in the Epe Division, urging others to emulate them.
Kassim applauded those who have been supporting the food response stimulus in the community.
He commended the support of Chief Lanre Razak, Prof. Nosiru Onibon, Lawyer Tunde Seriki, Bar. Dele Ibrahim, Dr. Olayiwola Onasanya, Princess Bolanle Kassim, Mr Adeniyi Saliu, and Mr. Adedoyin Adesanya.
