As part of its efforts to check the spread of the COVID-19 virus amid second wave of the virulent infection, The Ekiti State Government has issued fresh guidelines and directives.

The state government on Sunday announced the Imposition of a curfew from 8.00 pm to 6.00am.

The Commissioner for Information and Values Orientation, Hon Akinbowale Omole, in a statement,  disclosed restriction of public gatherings in the state to 20  people or less till further notice.

These restrictions take effect from 5am on Monday, January 11, 2021.

Ekohotblog reports that Omole said the new Guidelines and measures became imperative in light of  the scary upsurge in COVID-19 cases in Nigeria.

He said the government needed to take drastic actions and be proactive in order to prevent further loss of lives to the malignant disease that has sent many to the shores of the afterlife.

He admonished the people to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 protocols and also abide by the curfew and new restrictions placed on public gatherings by the state government.

Hon Akinbowale Omole called on the people to ensure that they wear their nose masks properly, wash their hands with soap and use hand sanitizer regularly, as well as keep social distance to avoid contracting the virus.

Omole added that the curfew placed throughout the state from 8.00 pm to 6.00 am will be strictly enforced except for those that can prove that they are on essential services.

On worship centers and religions activities, Omole said the government permits for two services to take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday accordingly and that all these services should not extend beyond 2.00pm on such days.
