COVID-19: Ekiti Govt Mandates The Use Of Face Mask, Promises To Arrest Violators

– Ekiti State Government made the use of face masks in the state

– The ministry emphasizes adherence to precautionary measures

– To affirm it’s statement, security officials have been mandated to arrest any offender of the law.

The Ekiti Government has mandated the use of face mask in the state, promising to arrest violators with effect from Today, July 20, 20202.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Wale Fapounda, made this information known on Sunday in Ado Ekiti.

Justice Wale Fapounda said there would henceforth be stiffer penalties for those who fail to comply.

The Commissioner said Governor Kayode Fayemi condemns residents negligence towards COVID-19 guidelines imposed on the state by the government.

Going further, the attorney emphasised that the Governor had, therefore, ordered the full enforcement of all other COVID-19 regulations in the state.

The Commissioner stressed adherence to precautionary regulations, including the use of face masks in public places and observance of social distancing.

He explained further that mobile courts had been established to try offenders and impose adequate sanctions such as fines and community service.

The Commissioner added that commercial motorcyclists and other road transport workers are mandated to adhere strictly to the COVID-19 guidelines.

According to him, the Ministry of Justice has already issued a directive ordering security agents to respect the rights of residents while discharging their duties.
