COVID-19: Epe Riverine Community To Get Relief Fund From Lagos Government (Audio)

Lagos State Operations Coordinating Unit (LASOCU)  under The Lagos State Government in conjunction with National Social Safety-Nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) Abuja will on Monday 24th May 2021 provide succour to the vulnerable ones in Abomiti riverine community, Epe, Lagos State. The

Bearing in mind that the COVID-19 pandemic had adverse effects on the poor, the collaboration of both the State and Federal Government to ameliorate the suffering of the less privileged occasioned by the COVID-19 outbreak in urban and semi-urban areas is no doubt a welcome development.

The project, which will last for 7 days between 24th-31st May 2021, is an initiative of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development tagged “The COVID-19 Rapid Response Register (RRR).” It is designed to assist urban and semi-urban areas affected by the economic impacts of COVID-19.

Ekohotblog gathered that those targeted by the project include urban poor and vulnerable population, low-income earners and daily income earners such as vulcanisers, hotel workers, petty traders, bricklayers etc.

It was also stated that those low-income earners involved in the informal sector who may have lost their income opportunities will be eligible for registration into the Rapid Response Register.
