As Lagos, Nigeria, and the world at large battles the ravaging coronavirus pandemic, one of the preventive measures to contain its spread is the “stay at home” order.
This coincides with the holy month of Ramadan, a period that is more pleasing to Almighty Allah for believers to extend arms of giving to the needy.
It is on this note, that a devout Muslim and foremost philanthropist deemed it fit partner a noble Non-governmental organisation to give out food items to physically challenged, less privileged, and vulnerable in Epe community.
The laudable project was executed in partnership with Dr Shakirudeen Olayiwola Onasanya, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Concerned NationBuilders Initiative (CNI), an NGO.
According to Dr Onasanya, he said that his kind gesture was borne out of his strong desire to give back to the community he comes from.
He added that royal fathers are one of the foremost personalities to reckon with because they are at the forefront of every community matters.
Also, without neglecting the physically challenged, downtrodden and less privileged, they are all indeed needed to be captured as top priority beneficiaries.
The Permanent Secretary commends Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his proactive measures taken to ease the suffering of the people in the state during this hard time.
“I heartily commend the present of Lagos state government administration ably led by Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his selfless services towards humanity and community development.
“With the approach of the governor and his team towards tackling Covid-19 pandemic, It will be a thing of the past soon.
“I also commend the Ministry of Agriculture for the fair distribution of food items across the board, ” he said.
Eko Hot Blog Correspondent reports that the food items distributed include; 50bags (25kg) of garri for the physically challenged and less privileged.
The beneficiaries of the food pack include; Traditional rulers in Ibeju-Lekki, Oloja of Epe, Olu Epe of Epe, Aladeshoyin of Noforija, Baale Ora of Ora, Ogegbo of Ibonwon, Chief Imam Ibonwon, less privileged, downtrodden, widows, pregnant mothers and the physically challenged.
Speaking on the development, the Coordinator of the NGO, Mr Idris Tele-Olukoya appreciated the kind humanitarian gestures of the donor, Dr Shakirudeen Olayiwola Onasanya.
Olukoya said that his passion for humanity and community development is second to none and worthy of emulation.
“I use this medium to call on well-meaning individuals, corporate bodies and MDAs to partner with this noble NGO to reach out to people in Nation-building capacity”, he said.
Concerned Nation Builders Initiative (CNI) is an NGO primarily aimed at fostering community development through advocacy.
Other core objectives of the frontline community-centred NGO are: promoting good leadership, human capacity building and poverty alleviation.
The organisation has been in the forefront since its inception in 2018 and Epe is among the communities the noble organisation considers as its primary objective.
Series of Corporate and Social Responsibility projects have been executed as well as human capacity building and empowerment programmes for youths and students in years past.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr Goke Mejidande, appreciated the support of the donor.
He said that the stimulus package came at the right time and is well received and appreciated.
“As we all know we are in the Ramadan period when Muslims are expected to fast.
“This stimulus package came at the nick of time and I appreciate the sponsors for this kind gesture, may almighty Allah reward you all”, he said.
